ARTWORK MUSIC STUDIO

This year we are establishing a monthly Studio Group Class, held one Friday afternoon per month! Learning in a group setting is essential for students as they explore collaborative music-making, and it offers the chance to move beyond the usual one-on-one setting of private lessons. Group classes are so beneficial for gaining new musical awareness and gain motivation from their musical peers. We have found that sometimes over the course of a school year, we can lose direction when our goals and achievements are spread too far apart. A monthly group class offers our students a great opportunity to engage with each other and present their ongoing musical progress (no matter what stage they are in the learning process). 

Each 1 hour group lesson plan will consist of 4 learning segments: 

• Individual reading and/or worksheet with a brief group discussion on a topic

• Group play activity (rhythm games, fun musical challenges…etc.)

• Presentation of a piece or technical skill for performance improvement/preparation

• Learning how to give your peers encouragement and constructive feedback

This is included in your tuition, so students are highly encouraged to come to at least 4 of the 6 monthly group classes. These group classes also count as "make-up lessons", but they are primarily meant to unite our studio cohort and improve our educational strategies.

Teacher Cancellation: ​

• Amelia & Adam may need a bit more flexibility with Teacher Sick days, so if they cancel your lesson, they will offer you an individual make-up on the soonest possible Friday. For Snow Days, they will offer Zoom/Facetime lessons or ask you to sign up for a Studio Group Class. Please plan to attend the monthly Studio Group Class if they are unable to reschedule. You can attend as many of these as you wish! 

• Strings Group Class: Held at Amelia's Studio/Living Room

• Piano Group Class: Held at 305 S. 2nd St W, Missoula (Adam's old studio at Sears Hall)
